Driving through Scandinavia, finishing the 12-hour hike, sitting on the edge of the Troll’s Tongues… still like it was all a dream to me. Very Eat Pray Love, I kept repeating this to myself as I was mentally battling my way up the Norwegian Fjords.
I already wrote one blog about my few days with my family in Oslo, Norway. A little bit different than the last, and probably one of the favorite blogs I have written thus far. Probably because it is still one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my life. We rented a car in Copenhagen, Denmark, drove alllllllll the way through Sweden, spending a night in Oslo and proceeding to the final destination of Bergen, Norway. Making a few stops along the way, but ultimately, taking the 14-hour drive in a quick stride. The entire drive from Oslo to Bergen is 8 hours of straight jaw-dropping beauty. Every corner we turned (and we turned A LOT of corners, it is a very windy drive) I would gasp at the views.
Allegedly, Bergen is the rainiest city in the world, and it definitely lived up to its reputation. Despite the rain, it is one of the cutest cities I have ever been to.
Even though Bergen was the destination, it was not the main attraction when it came to our time in Norway. We came to hike one of Norway’s most famous hikes, Trolltunga. Situated about 1100 meters above sea level, this 22 km hike took 12 hours for us to accomplish. I was not only in awe of myself and what my body could accomplish, but was blown away by the beauty of the world. I read everywhere that this was a strenuous and difficult hike, but god, they were not wrong. I’m not going to sugarcoat this, hiking Trolltunga was one of the most difficult things I have ever accomplished. The walk there was hard, but the walk back killed my soul. The last few kilometers I was ready to sit down on a rock a cry, my body was aching and I was cold and tired. This hike is a total mental mind game and it takes a complete toll on your body. But, if you ever get the chance, please, don’t let that stop you, it is worth it! I mean just look at the photos….
